The North Run 2011

March 16th, 2011

The North Run is now in its third year and has evolved from a mass scooter ride to the coast to a festival style event involving camping and entertainment at a new destination in the Yorkshire countryside.

It’s shaping up to be a big event and given The North Run’s increasing popularity (especially among the younger scooter fraternity) coupled with all the logistical problems to contend with, The North Run needed room to expand so the plan is a little bit different for 2011. This year’s North Run will see riders head out on a whistle stop tour of South and West Yorkshire starting at the usual meeting place – Adrenalin Pedstop in Carlton, Barnsley. A real North Run in every sense, proposed stop-off points include Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Pontefract, Castleford, Leeds and Wakefield before heading out to Ackworth near Pontefract where riders can relax and unwind in the open countryside. Proposed attractions include trophies for best custom scoots, a grass track kickstart style competition, a bucking bronco (so you can laugh at your mates), a DJ and a ‘surprise spectacle’ to liven things up a bit…

Participants of the rideout can join The North Run at different meeting points. It’s free to attend and riders of all ages are welcome. This year’s destination is: Castle Syke Hill, Ackworth, Wakefield WF7. Bring a tent and some beers!

The North Run 2011 starts at 9am on Saturday 23 July at Adrenalin Pedstop, Unit 1, Longfields Court, Middlewoods Way, Wharncliffe Business Park, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 3HR
